What I want everyone to know

Its been a great life, being blessed with a great wife and three healthy and successful children. Looking around at these troubled times a person can feel trapped, the pressure of rising gas prices, food costs, corporations downsizing etc....what can we do. That is why sites like this are so important. A wise man said it his way" There are two types of Knowledge, first is what you know and next is what you don't know" both are very important, the second is many times much more valuable. Id like to share what we have found out; by simply changing our thinking we can and have changed lives. About Me:

I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, and blessed with two great parents, Joseph & Marie Pickett. Dad was a great role model and still is my hero, so of course I listened to his advice. As a young man he grew up during the depression. Our nation was in bad shape back then. Living through these tough times he realized the people who were fortunate, were the ones who had a good steady job. He instilled in me that a career in civil service was the way to go. After attending Lehman College in the Bronx, I voluntarily enlisted in the US Marines. Being the tail end of the Viet- Nam Era, I was sent to the Philippines and Japan to support the troops being evacuated. After the Marines, I did what any other young GI would do when they returned home. Looked for a job. Following Dad’s sound advice, I now had a choice of jobs. Prior to enlisting in the Marines I had taken most of the civil service exams and was on multiple waiting lists. First of many to call was NYS Dept of Corrections. The years flew. Still happily married to my wife Barbara, our family had grown and we now had three children to feed. More and more time spent working. My life was a blur; normal weekly paycheck was tough to live on so I became dependent on working overtime, double shifts, or working on my days off to make ends meet. Most of us worked side jobs on our days off. Buildings decks on houses or pouring cement walkways, anything that would bring in some extra money. It was around this phase in my life I read an ad in the local newspaper. The concept seemed so intriguing; I decided to attend the event mentioned in the ad to learn more. It was what I had been looking for, a way to earn extra money, I decided to get started. My philosophy and belief at this point of my life was “ it takes money to make money”. Justifying that belief by thinking if you own a Restaurant, or purchased a franchise there is always an investment of cash, time and commitment to achieve success. I paid a nice investment fee to get the business going.
I liked the concept of MLM or building distribution, it made sense; however, after consistent effort and no success I became very discouraged. No direction, no leadership to follow how to become successful. I began to realize most of the revenue or profits these companies make usually come from these high enrollment fees. It’s almost a tradition, in the MLM Industry; take advantage of the new-excited people who join. Paint a picture, let them dream, take their cash and teach others to do the same. This type of marketing has eroded and ruined a great concept. I believe many well-meaning people; through no fault of their own they followed this flawed system. This was the only blueprint. Think about it, from the late 1950’s till today nothing changed. New Companies were created, CEO’s with ambition, drive and their hearts in the right place tried to make better companies but they followed this flawed model. Charge fees to join, their compensation plan was predominately based off these start up fees, with minor changes here and there. I was done with making this a reality, fed up with the all the hype and some smooth talking, sharp dressed suit explaining the next big thing. I was finished with MLM. The flame that had burned inside me was almost out.
What happened next changed my life; a friend of mine called me and asked me to take a look at this company he was involved with. Talk about being negative, I was extremely negative. He however was extremely professional in his approach. Knowing me he realized I would never become involved in another network marketing company again. He was not pushy, instead he asked me to just do him a favor to see what he was involved with. Fast-forward the clock, after learning about this company called Escape International; I knew that I needed to learn more. My decision was to meet CEO Mr. David Rutz. If I was going to invest any time and effort into something I had to look the owner in the eye, man to man, face to face and see for myself if the values are there, is there integrity. The company sounded like everything I had ever dreamed about, could it be possible? I went on the road to find out.
